I was
bitten by the quilting bug 15 years ago and since then, every time I
visited a new city, I would locate and visit every quilt shop and
exhibit available in that city. I was continually amazed by the
variety of fabrics and patterns available to the quilting enthusiast
and enjoyed the stimulation each shop offered with its different
selection of fabrics and quilts on the walls and hanging from the
ceilings.
How I
would have loved for someone to pick me up at my hotel and drive me to
the local shops and exhibits.
So,
here I was, now living in Las Vegas, one of the fastest growing and
economically stable cities in the United States with many tourists
visiting it every month. Certainly there were other quilters that
would enjoy being escorted to these shops by a sister quilt
enthusiast.
I
found an active quilting community in Las Vegas (see our Links page
for the Desert Quilters of Nevada) and great fabric shops to fill
their needs. Thus,
was born. People who quilt are friendly, creative and a pleasure to be
around. How fortunate I am to be able to spend my days with such
interesting people and in quilt shops.
I
must extend a special thank you to my quilting cousin, Lana Davis, in
Salem, Oregon, who has been my quilt shop escort every summer for
years when I have returned to my hometown. This annual day of
companionship and sharing quilt stories, techniques and a love of
fabric was an inspiration to me as I made my plans for
.
